The Burnside Bridge will close to vehicle, bicycle and foot traffic beginning 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18 and will reopen the following Monday at 6 a.m. The bridge’s traffic lanes are being re-painted over the weekend, an effort that will reopen three lanes and make five total lanes available.

PSU Biggest Loser back for a second weigh-in
Administrators, staff and students are starting up the second year of PSU’s version of the NBC reality show The Biggest Loser this week, where teams will compete to see who can lose the most excess weight in a two-month period.
People who want to lose those extra holiday pounds, or just take aim at getting in better shape, can sign up for the PSU Fit Club competition during two confidential weigh-in sessions today from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. and Friday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. It costs $15 for faculty and staff and $10 for students to participate. People can compete alone or on a team of two to five.
There will be one winner, who will receive a cash prize, from each of four categories: the highest individual total weight loss, the highest percentage group weight loss, the highest percentage weight loss for women and the highest for men. Ken Coleman, who was on the third season of The Biggest Loser and helped kick off last year’s event at PSU, will be returning to the university sometime midway through the competition for a healthy lunch gathering.

Burnside Bridge closed this weekend
The Burnside Bridge will close to vehicle, bicycle and foot traffic beginning 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18 and will reopen the following Monday at 6 a.m. The bridge’s traffic lanes are being re-painted over the weekend, an effort that will reopen three lanes and make five total lanes available.
TriMet bus routes 12, 19 and 20–routes that use the Burnside Bridge–will cross the Morrison Bridge during the closure. Multnomah County Public Affairs Officer Mike Pullen said commuters should anticipate heavier traffic than usual across the Morrison, Hawthorne and Broadway bridges this weekend. If it rains, the painting may be delayed.
