Joel Silverstein
Shall I compare thee to a cloudy day?
This town allows me ample time to know,
That you might overcome this constant gray,
If you were here, we’d watch the roses grow.
And walk along the Gorge until it’s dark
Feel spray from waterfalls attack our necks
Watch sun eclipse the mountains from the park
As we eat roasted peanuts and Rice Chex.
Free ride Historic Highway straight through dawn
Come home in time to eat some cheap hot cakes,
We dream of owning houses with a lawn,
But if Ladd’s let us sublet we’d need some rakes.
I wrote this sonnet to produce this line,
Will you be my Rose City valentine?
