Mary R. Cunningham
Name: Mary R. Cunningham
Title: ASPSU Student Body President
Role at PSU: I represent the student body.
What goals have you set for this upcoming school year? Strengthen campus community, nontraditional student outreach and one-stop financial support.
What should students know about you? I’m approachable. I feel that if people need to talk to me about anything, they can.
What do you think students should know about PSU? PSU is a unique university and has many qualities that most of the universities in Oregon don’t have. We serve a diverse population in a city setting. That makes us the only urban campus in Oregon, and we are the best.
Your favorite thing about PSU: My favorite thing about PSU is the community and the members of it. I feel that we truly have a great community of students, faculty, and staff that all mesh well with each other.
Your favorite place on campus: Lincoln Hall is my favorite place. All the theater kids are there and it’s a great building.
Accomplishment that you are most proud of: Coming back to school. I took a year off after high school and swore I would never return. With some encouragement from my family and friends, I returned, and I’m relieved that I did. Oh, and I guess being a waitress for that year persuaded me a little as well.
Something that most people don’t know about you: My dad is a biker and a founding member of the “Brother Speed” motorcycle club.
In your office or at your desk we’ll find: Lots and lots of pictures of my friends and family. They are the most important thing to me.
Last great book you read: “Nine and Counting: The Women of the Senate,” written by Catherine Whitney.
What CD is in your player right now? Dixie Chicks.
Your favorite movie: Goodfellas.
What’s your favorite hobby and why? I enjoy acting and participating in community theater.
