CPSO investigates suspicious package on campus

A suspicious bag was found in Portland State’s Parking Structure 3 at Southwest 12th Avenue and Mill Street at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday. The orange nylon bag was found underneath a parked car by a patrol officer from the Campus Public Safety Office. The Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit was summoned, and police evacuated the building during their investigation, which concluded within an hour.

Former Portland State student publishes book

The book is called Extremely Successful Book and the author is recent Portland State graduate Matt “Danger” Stares. Stares’ book is an abstract comedy compilation of essays he wrote in class, including one linking space and politics. Stares also has a chapter composed of Craigslist advertisements, which was the book’s main selling point.

PSU rally encourages innovation

Portland State’s Intellectual and Innovation Property department’s online innovation research rally ended Sunday. The purpose of the rally was to connect participants (and their projects and ideas) with innovators and research faculty who could then determine how to help. The IIP also gave out three cash awards ranging from $5,000–20,000 as funding for development and research to encourage innovators and researchers to share their ideas. Winners will be chosen in the beginning of September.
