PSU Football falls to 16th in polls
The Portland State Vikings have dropped from 9th to 16th in several of the national polls this week. This comes after the 14-10 loss to Northern Arizona in a Big Sky Conference match-up. Despite the 41-0 loss to the Pac-10 Oregon Ducks the Vikings were still ranked 9th going into the NAU game. With the win over the Vikings the NAU Lumberjacks climb up to 12th in the Sports Network NCAA I-AA polls.
Viking Softball enters new league
Portland State had been an independent team before the 2000 season and will leave the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) for the newly formed Pacific Coast Softball Conference this spring. In Western Conference play last year the Vikings went 11-13 in conference and 22-35 overall. Softball begins play at San Diego on April 5.
