Vikings fall to crosstown rival
Portland State fell to the University of Portland by a 3-1 score (30-22, 30-27, 23-30, 32-30).

On the night, Portland had 71 kills compared to just 51 for the Vikings. Bridget DeChant led the way for UP with 17 kills. Sara Engstrom had 33 assists for Portland while Michelle Oakland recorded 20. Beschen and Carlie Price were the defensive leaders with 14 and 13, respectively.

For Portland State, Richell Wilson led the way once again with 18 kills. Kristina Thom and Nicole Geils were also in double-digits with 12 and 10 kills respectively. Other Vikings leaders were Katie Kaysinger with 41 assists, Katie Young with 11 digs and Stacy Ball with seven blocks.

The Vikings will travel to Cheney, Wash. this Friday to face Eastern Washington.

Beavers defeat Viking 3-0
The Vikings hit the road Tuesday to play Oregon State University were the Beavers had three second half goals to had the Vikings a 3-0 loss.The Beavers improved to 5-1-1 overall while the Vikings fell to 0-7-1 on the season.

Both teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first half with the majority of the action taking place on the Vikings’ end of the field. The Beavers had taken 12 shots before the break compared to just two for PSU.

In the second half Oregon State broke up the tie when Jolin scored what proved to be the game-winner with 68:01 on the clock, taking a deflected ball into the net.

OSU added another goal at the 77:13 mark when sophomore Courtney Carter drilled a penalty kick past an outstretched Pietras. The Beavers were awarded the free shot after Pietras pinned Stephanie Lucas to the ground inside the box on a breakaway attempt.

Henderson recorded Oregon State’s final goal in the 81st minute, taking a breakaway pass from freshman Katie Magnuson. The goal was Henderson’s sixth of the season and 15th of her career.

The Vikings will return to their home field this tomorrow hosting Washington State at the Tigard High School Soccer Complex at 7 p.m.
