But Lewis’ stingy on-field attitude has been recognized by more than the Portland State record books. Last season, Lewis was an honorable mention all-Big Sky selection, and this week was chosen as the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week, after recording 11 saves in a 0-0 shutout at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.

The Vanguard sat down the Vikings’ defender of the net for a few questions.

Why did you come to Portland State?Tim Bennett is a very persuasive person, the team was really welcoming and I love Portland as a city.

What was your best moment on the field? In high school, I was playing on the field and I scored a goal. I didn’t even mean to, but I was standing in front of the net and the ball came to me. I think I was trying to pass it and it went in.

If you could change one rule about soccer, what would it be? That goalies could use their hands everywhere, not just in the 18-yard box.

What is your favorite place to eat on campus? Item to order? Chipotle, for sure. I always order the carnitas burrito with guacamole and extra cheese.

What is your favorite thing to do in Portland? Go to Sushi Land.

What is your most unique training method? Nothing special. Training with Coach Schott, Rachel Jarvis and Nikki Mills. They’re really the secret.

What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery? Second? First, my mom a house. Second, a motorized scooter. No, a go-kart.

Would you give a homeless person CPR if they were dying? If I had my CPR life-shield, then yes, definitely.

Would you choose a Coach purse or NFL tickets? NFL tickets, for sure.

I have a low tolerance for…People who don’t do dishes.

What was your favorite toy or activity as a child? I grew up in Hawaii and we went to the beach a lot. So, we were always swimming.

Do you have any hidden talents? Not really.

If you were given the chance to take care of a monkey for the weekend, would you? Yes, I would make it do tricks. I’d have a music box and everything.

Do you read The Vanguard? If so, which section? Yes, I do. I read the Spotlight Athlete of the Week.
