Stott Center houses fitness opportunities galore

Students don’t have to look further than across the park blocks for their fitness needs. The Peter W. Stott Center, located just south of the Millar library, is home to a wide variety of recreational opportunities for students, faculty and alumni.

The Stott center caters to independent athletes who enjoy creating their own workouts. The weight room offers a full array of free weights as well as plate-load and Med-Ex machines. The circuit training room has numerous cardio options with LifeCycles, stair machines, treadmills and Ergo rowing machines. The circuit training room also houses Nautilus machines, some universal machines and free weights.

The aquatics center holds the 25-meter pool for lap swimming. There are six racquetball and squash courts available daily. Sign-up sheets are located by the student recreation office, Room 102 PSC, and are posted each morning. There are four covered tennis courts on the roof of the center and are surrounded by a running track. Outdoor, uncovered tennis courts are located adjacent to Shattuck Hall.

PSU also offers a limited variety of for-credit recreational classes. These classes are taught by qualified instructors and are an excellent way to receive specialized instruction in a particular sport or activity. Summer classes include abs/lower body sculpting, ballroom dance, cardiokickboxing, circuit training, flex fitness, golf, Latin dance, coast swing, soccer, steps/sculpt, tai chi, tennis, weight training, yoga and scuba.
