Portland State starts off its swing through Montana with a Thursday match-up against the Montana State Bobcats. The Vikings will face a team in similar turmoil when they roll into Bozeman. The Bobcats are riding a seven-game losing streak, with all those losses coming on the road. Their most recent defeat came at Northern Arizona, where they were blown away 60-86.
Portland State finds itself in the midst of its own six-game slide, though the team showed signs of life in a close 74-82 loss to Idaho State Saturday night. Heather Arns is averaging 21 points over her last two games and is only one of a multitude of players that have been stepping up offensive production of late. Ashley Brown has gone from bench warmer to solid contributor and leads the Vikings with three assists per game in Big Sky competition, to go along with her six points per contest.
Fun fact: In a Jan. 6 game against Utah Valley State, Montana State and UVS combined for 65 points, with Utah Valley State pulling out an ugly 37-28 win at home. The Vikings defeated UVS 75-66 Dec. 28 at Stott Center.
