PSU debaters to take on British team Tues.
The British National Debate Team will be competing against Portland State in an exhibition event Oct. 30. The topic of the debate will be “Resolved: Media Consolidation Harms Democracy.”
“Media consolidation is simultaneously one of the most important and least talked about issues facing our culture,” said Jil Freeman, PSU communications instructor. “Having the opportunity to hear this issue debated in a public format is something we all should take advantage of.”
The British team is currently making a tour of the United States, including stops at Boston College and Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. The British and PSU teams are made up of two members and six members, respectively.
The event will be held Tuesday in room 327 of Smith Memorial Student Union.
