Womens golf
Women’s golf is having a wonderful week as senior Sarah Tiller, of Napa, Id., was named Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week for the second time.
Tiller scored 2-over-par 74, on Oct. 4 and 5 in the first round of the Heather Farr Memorial Invitational, and 3-over-par in the second round.
Tiller finished at 149 in the Invitational and was the top finisher among Big Sky competitors.
Softball
According to the Go Viks web site, Commissioner Wendy Guthrie said that after two seasons of competition, the Pacific Coast Softball Conference has received an automatic qualifier (AQ) for NCAA postseason play. The AQ comes in time for the 2005 season of PCSC competition, giving the Portland State softball team and the other member teams a chance to play for a trip to the Women’s College World Series.
Volleyball
The Portland State Volleyball team plays its second Big Sky Conference game of the season this Saturday. The girls are scheduled to play Northern Arizona at 7 p.m. in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Football
The Viking boys desperately need a win this week when they travel to Sacramento, California. Going up against the Sacramento Hornets, PSU is sure to have a mental edge, as they haven’t lost to the Hornets since 1999.
The Viking football team has a season record of 2-2, and a conference record of 0-1.
Soccer
Portland State women’s soccer is now 3-5-2 on the season. The team will play the Sacramento Hornets this Friday when it travels down to Northern California.
The Hornets are 2-8-0 on the season. The Vikings have a good chance at victory this week; the team has been ranked third in the Big Sky according to non-conference records.
