The application deadline to run for a 2008-2009 student government position has been delayed from this week until next week, after a total of ten applicants submitted paperwork for positions in ASPSU.

While it is still uncertain whether Grizzlies star guard Mandy Morales will play after tweaking her ankle against Portland State last Saturday, Vikings head coach Sherri Murrell feels the junior will suit up and compete simply because of the game’s importance. Morales, a first-team All-Big Sky selection, is the major cog in the Montana attack, as she averages 15.5 points per game and shoots 44.8 percent from the field. Hey! Are you a fan of Hot Snakes and Drive Like Jehu? If so, I’ve just found your new favorite band: Dragged By Horses. They’re from Arcata, Calif., and their new album, Deep In the Woods, fucking rules. Like the aforementioned San Diego bands, Dragged By Horses pounds out a perfect blend of atonal punk and balls-out rock. Something about the droning, pulsing bass lines and the sharp, start-stop guitar work really gets to me. And the melodic yelp of singer/guitarist Pablo Midence fits the music like a well-worn glove. It should be noted that, yes, the band sounds quite a bit like the Jehu of old, but there are enough differences and high-quality songwriting to make up for it.

As a kid, I remember hoarding chemical energy like a little fiend. A caf-fiend, if you will. I would buy boxes of those powdered cappuccino packets and mix about eight with a glass of milk. Then I would stay up all night–shaky and sweaty–hoping I could catch some boobage on late-night television. Up until a few years ago, that’s the most caffeine crazed I ever got. But in no time, my life became awash with caffeinated products. My heart hasn’t been the same since. Energy drinks, coffee, caffeine-injected chocolate pieces. So tired…no, awake.
