I’m writing in response to Brad Vehafric’s letter to the editor on Tuesday [May 1]. The fact that Vehafric leads off with false information is indicative of the majority of his letter.

Dear Rod Stevenson: After reading your letter to the editor about the “BS” that is University Studies, I felt that you might be interested in hearing a mentor’s opinion, as it represents the other side of yours.

Intelligent design is a scientific proposition, not a religious idea Contrary to the completely erroneous article by Nick Jaynes [“Intelligent design isn’t so smart,” March 13], which is full of misinformation, intelligent design as an intellectual idea, and as a scientific theory, stretches back as far as the ancient Greeks.

The Vanguard celebrates its 60th anniversary this month with a special commemorative issue dedicated to the rich history of Portland State’s now daily student newspaper. For 60 years our publication has been the voice of Portland State students, bringing to life the stories and issues important to the PSU community.

The truth about Sept. 11th I’m a PSU graduate, but my kids send me the Vanguard. I’m wondering what you guys know about Sep. 11th and if you think maybe publishing some articles about the 9/11 truth movement would be a good idea. I often think that 9/11 needs to be examined by progressives if we are ever going to get our act together.

    An eight-year-old child stood in the Park Blocks yesterday with a sign quoting religious texts hanging from his shoulders, handing out Christian tracts to any student that would take one.     Hundreds of irate Portland State students gathered around the child and a group of five adults from Bible Believers U.
