Activities to take the edge off
As week five fades away and week six finds you anxiously awaiting midterm grades, you may begin to feel the effects. A bit of strain in your neck, an ache in your temples. Perhaps your road rage has increased, or you’re beginning to imagine your not-so-reliable lab partner as a human-shaped punching bag.
Cross country calls it a season
The Portland State cross country season came to a close on Saturday as the Vikings competed in their final meet of the year, at the Big Sky Championships in Flagstaff, Ariz. The women were led once again by senior Amber Rozcicha, who finished in 19th place. Freshman Neil Seibert paced the men, finishing in 57th place.
Big Sky ambition
The 2012 regular season came to an end for the Portland State women’s soccer team last week, as the Vikings beat California State University, Bakersfield 2-0. Seniors Amanda Dutra and Amanda Howie each tallied goals for the Vikings, who will now look forward to the Big Sky Conference tournament.

Vikings move on
After losing to the Mustangs on Saturday, the Vikings football team prepares to face the University of California, Davis this weekend at Aggie Stadium. Back on track in the Big Sky
On March 3 in Greeley, Colo., an unfamiliar feeling set in for the PSU women’s basketball team: Their season ended without a trip to the playoffs. Last season was the first since 2004–o5 that the Vikings failed to qualify for the Big Sky Conference tournament, the first in head coach Sherri Murrell’s five-year tenure. They return four starters and nine letter-winners who seek to improve upon last season’s 15–14 campaign.

The Portland State crew heads out onto the water as the sun rises over downtown Portland. The team practices at least four days a week, rain or shine. They are currently getting ready for upcoming events at Oaks Park and the Portland Boathouse.
