Chris Moller

Name: Chris Moller
Title: Student Fee Committee Chair
Role at PSU: Oversight and direction of the student fee process at PSU. I (we) allocate money to all of the student groups, Smith Center and Athletics – Go Vikings!!!

What goals have you set for this upcoming school year? Looking into the compensation levels for students receiving educational stipends; helping out with design and funding for a rock climbing wall at the Stott Center; writing words to the Sanford and Son theme song and adopting the resultant as the Viking fight song; and spending as much free time as possible with my wife.

What students should know about you? I am very approachable and try to make time for everything/everybody. I love the idea of Portland State and its future regardless of any sarcastic comments I may have made about our beloved PSU.

What do you think students should know about PSU? PSU is not just a school; it’s a state of being. You can literally make PSU into anything you want it to be.

Your favorite thing(s) about PSU: PSU is like a mutt – not pretty, not pure – bread … but street-smart and lean. Apparently, only a privileged few politicians or rich folk really love and support us. Against the odds, PSU is still here and will continue to grow and thrive.

Your favorite place on campus: Aside from my apartment, my other home – The Second Act Lounge.

Accomplishment that you are most proud of: I will graduate after one more Geology course this fall. I’ll be doing post-bac to get ready for graduate school.

Something that most people don’t know about you: I enjoy sarcasm.

In your office or at your desk, we’ll find: Some sort of organized chaos – areas of highly organized files and piles of paper and Post-its with random names, number and other info.

Last great book you read: “The Map That Changed the World: William Smith and the Birth of Modern Geology,” by Simon Winchester, HarperCollins.

What CD is in your player right now? The Reverend Horton Heat: Martini Time. Although, I usually listen to NPR, occasionally I borrow CDs from my wife – she’s the music buff.

Your favorite movie: It’s a toss up, my favorite newer film is “Full Metal Jacket,” my favorite older film is “Lawrence of Arabia.”

What’s your favorite hobby and why? I enjoy hiking and backpacking with my wife. We went to the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming this summer. I like getting out of the city.
