Queer eye for the student guy

The Oregon Statewide Student Equal Rights Alliance (OSSERA) is holding a panel discussion tonight titled “Politicizing Queer Issues.”

The discussion will feature representatives from various local activist groups, including Basic Rights Oregon, Lesbian Community Project and Love Makes a Family. Members of Queers and Allies, a PSU student group, will also be present.

The event is taking place from 5-7:30 p.m. in Room 238 of Smith Memorial Student Union

Legally bound

Portland State’s Pre-Law Society is hosting a Law School Fair tomorrow from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Room 355 of Smith Memorial Student Union.

More than 50 law schools from around the nation will be present to answer questions and hand out brochures. Schools that will be represented include Loyola University, Notre Dame Law School, Santa Clara University and University of Washington.

This is the largest law school fair in Oregon and has been advertised around the state, as well as in Washington. Students from those areas are expected to attend.

Former Portland police chief Tom Potter announced his candidacy for Portland mayor in the 2004 elections today at a campaign-kickoff celebration held in Southeast Portland.
