Seeking sustainable business
The last of the Millennium Speaker lectures will be held on June 12 at 7 p.m. in SMC 355. Joel Makower will give a presentation entitled “From Here to Sustainability: The Promise and Pitfalls of Environmentally Responsible Business.”
Makower is the editor of The Green Business Letter, a monthly publication covering integration of environmental thinking and business.
Wanted: Volunteers
Volunteers are being sought for PIPfest (Portland International Performance Festival). The annual theater and dance festival features artists from around the world during the month of July.
Ushers, food servers and greeters are needed for a variety of events, including the opening gala on July 7. Volunteers receive complimentary tickets for their time.

University takes home the gold
Portland State recently received the gold medal in the Circle of Excellence competition for its 2001-2002 student recruitment publication series, Connect. The series was the top winner in the publications program improvement category. It also picked up a bronze medal in the Recruitment Publications category.
The competition is sponsored by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), an organization that assists higher education professionals who work in alumni relations, communications and development.
