Not to worry–here is a handy guide to resources around the university that will make your life easier.

The Campus Public Safety Office (CPSO) keeps an eye on goings-on around campus, ensuring students, faculty and staff are free of harm. They also provide assistance to campus visitors, around-the-clock surveillance and safeguard for university facilities. If something is lost or stolen, report it to the CPSO. Public safety officers also provide CPR and first aid if necessary.

PSU’s Center for Student Health and Counseling (SHAC) is the place to go when your health goes south. In addition to medical services, the health center offers limited dental service, a pharmacy and counseling. Students who take nine or more credits are charged a health services fee that provides basic healthcare coverage.

For students that are also parents, PSU offers facilities on campus for childcare and family development services. The Children’s Center provides on-campus daycare services while the Helen Gordon Child Development Center offers partial- and full-day preschool as well as kindergarten.

The Office of Information Technology is in charge of several on-campus computer labs available to students. This office is where students can set up their ODIN accounts and find information about any technology-related issues.

Computer lab locations: the basement and fourth floor of Neuberger Hall, the Millar Library, Cramer Hall and the second floor of the Broadway Housing Building.

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) offers resources for students with disabilities on campus.Testing assistance, textbook scanning, tape recording, note taking and interpreting are some of the services.

International Student and Scholar Services employees advise students on maintaining visa status and many other immigration-related or personal issues. Advisers are available daily for walk-in appointments.

The Undergraduate Academic Support Center (UASC) is the place for academic advising on university requirements. UASC includes an advising center for general academic advising; community college relations to assist community college transfer students; student-athlete advising; veteran services; and the academic support program, which provides extra aid to students struggling academically.

The Ombuds Office “provide[s] an informal means of problem resolution if you have a university-related dispute,” according to its Web site. The Ombuds acts as a source of information for a wide variety of issues that may occur between students and the university.

Student Activities and Leadership Programs (SALP) oversees most of the more than 100 active student groups. Visit the SALP Web site to find a listing of student groups and learn how to get involved.

Student Legal Services staffs two full-time attorneys to assist students with a variety of legal issues. Consultations are free of charge, though court fees are not covered by the university. Although walk-in consultations are available, it is advisable to schedule an appointment. Conflicts concerning the university or its staff cannot be handled by legal services due to a conflict of interest. The Ombuds Office is recommended for settling university-related conflicts.

Transportation and Parking is the place to buy parking passes or TriMet FlexPasses, and has several service windows located in Neuberger Hall (open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Students can also pick up mass transit passes, tickets and get trip planning assistance at the Transportation Information Center in the Urban Center Plaza, located at Southwest Sixth Avenue and Montgomery Street.
