The architectural models, drawings, presentations and material work of students in the Department of Architecture at Portland State will go on display in a public exhibition titled Precipitations. This showcase of student work from the 2011–12 academic year highlights the creative achievements of students in both the undergraduate and the Master of Architecture programs.

The exhibition kicks off with a First Thursday reception June 7, 5:30–8:30 p.m., at the American Institute of Architects Center for Architecture (403 NW 11th Ave.). The exhibition is free, open to the public and will be on view through Saturday, June 30.

The Department of Architecture’s four-year bachelor’s degree program and two-year professional master’s degree program emphasize focused study in architectural design, the humanities, tectonics and the profession in a rich, design-based curriculum, as they prepare students for a career as a licensed architect.

In June 2011, the department celebrated the graduation of the first class of the Master of Architecture program, in which students complete a major thesis study of individually inspired questions concerning architecture, culture and technology.
