Playing in their final tournament of the preseason, the softball team dropped three of five at the Cal State Northridge Worth Invitational.
The Vikings fell to Cal State Northridge twice and also dropped a game against Rutgers, but defeated Quinnipiac of Connecticut in their two matchups.
Senior Jackie Heide continued her strong play of late, and totaled eight hits over the five games.
The Vikings concluded their fifth tournament with an 11-12 record and will compete in their first games in the state of Oregon over the next few days with road games coming at Oregon and a doubleheader this Saturday at Oregon State.
Through 23 games, the Vikings have three players that are hitting above .300, with Heide and infielders Jana Rae Slayton and Arielle Wiser leading the team in that category. Heide and Slayton have combined for 33 RBIs.
Nichole Rogers will bring a respectable 3.05 ERA into play as the team’s No. 1 pitcher.
Following their trips to Eugene and Corvallis this week, Portland State will take on Oregon State in another doubleheader at home, on March 23. League play begins on April 4 when the Vikings take on Santa Clara.
