Viking senior headed to Olympic trials

On May 6, Portland State wrestlers competed at the UniversityGreco-Roman Championships at Northwestern University in Evanston,Illinois. Several Vikings competed against wrestlers aged 18-24.Many of the athletes who competed have qualified to compete at theU.S Olympic Wrestling Team Trials, scheduled for May 21-23 inIndianapolis. One of these qualifiers is a Portland StateViking.

Senior Zac Enoch not only qualified for the U.S. OlympicTeam Trial, but placed second in his weight class. Competing at 121pounds, Enoch had a technical fall over Lawrence Levinstone (NewYork AC) in the quarterfinal match. Enoch then had a 9-8 decisionover Jarod Tavasci (Embry Riddle) in the semi-finals, before he waseventually defeated in the final match by Joseph Betterman(Marquette), 11-0.

Eddie Dahlen, competing at 145.5 pounds, finished in sixthplace. Dahlen lost to Kelly Pederson (U.S. Marines) by a technicalfall, 15-3.

At 264.5 pounds, Viking Adam Conrad took eighth place afterfalling to Jared Campbell (Cardiac Kids).
