Wait a minute, you can’t buy people!

Camera crews, a cheerleader and a football player in a shopping cart crowded the Park Blocks outside of the Millar Library yesterday to shoot a commercial for banking and credit company Chase.

The commercial showed a procession of people, including a football player and an old college professor, being pushed in shopping carts down the middle of the park blocks.

Respond2, the advertising company producing the commercial, is paying Portland State $500 per day to use the space in the Park Blocks and a lounge space in the PSU student housing building Montgomery Court. The money might be used for activities or events for students living in Montgomery Court.

The shoot at PSU could continue through today.

Associate Vice President for Finance and Controller Dee Wendler said PSU gets approached by filming companies several times each year. A major motion picture starring Ron Livingston, The Music Within, was shot on the PSU campus in February 2006.
