Women drop out in first round

The Portland State women’s basketball team lost Thursday night to conference-leading Weber State Wildcats, 67-77. The Vikings leading scorer and team MVP sophomore Kelsey Kahle led the team with 24 points and eight rebounds. Freshman point guard Claire Faucher netted 15 points, eight assists and five rebounds.

The Vikings’ offense could not get on track early, only scoring 25 in the first half and shooting 37.7 percent from the field for the game.

This marks the Vikings’ second year in the playoffs as the sixth-seeded team and second time being knocked out in the first round.

Wildcat stud Chelsea Warburton had a game-high 30 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
