A sexual assault is alleged to have occurred in the basement of Millar Library on or around Jan. 19, according to an email sent out to library employees on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

For reasons that remain unclear, the Office of the Dean of Student Life is investigating the matter. The Portland State Campus Public Safety Office said that no report has been filed with them, and that they have no details on the alleged incident.

The email, which was sent by interim university librarian Lynn Chmelir, urged supervisors to be cautious and aware of their surroundings, and to ensure that their student employees do the same.

The email also notes that the assault was not likely to be noticed by those not in the immediate vicinity of the incident. The Office of the Dean of Student Life has yet to identify the alleged assailant.

This incident comes on the heels of multiple reports of sexual assaults that are alleged to have occurred on the PSU campus since December 2011.
