And it’s no wonder: Just walk outside your door and you’ll likely be at a coffee place in a matter of minutes. But where is the best place? And where do you go if you don’t want to spend four or five bucks on a daily drink?

With Portland State’s film major exploding in popularity, Amy Borden is happy to be the newest addition to the school.

Some find it disappointing that Portland State only offers Judaic studies as a minor, but with new faculty member Nina Spiegel, that’s set to change soon.
New faculty profile: Sarah Ensor
Sarah Ensor just began her first term at Portland State as an assistant professor in the Department of English.
Ensor received her doctorate from Cornell University and focuses mainly on American literature from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with an emphasis on gender studies and ecocriticism.

Portland State’s Mark O. Hatfield School of Government hired Billie Sandberg this year as the new assistant professor of public administration.
New faculty profile: Stefan Talke
Stefan Talke came to Portland two years ago to work with David Jay, a Portland State professor in the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science. Talke is now a senior research associate, and will be teaching one class per term.
New faculty profile: Charles Klein
“So much as [Portland State] is the land of untraditional students, I’m the untraditional new faculty person, because I haven’t been in academia for 15 years,” Charles Klein, the new applied medical anthropologist at PSU, said.
