While some may only consider automobiles a mode of transportation, others consider them a work of art. For the last month, the Portland Art Museum has been showcasing two car-related exhibitions in what they call “The Allure of the Automobile” and “AutoMagic.”

Summer brings warm weather, bathing suits, sunshine and outdoor fun—for some. For the rest of us, it is the dawning of a new television season bearing a mix of shows that recycle premises, cake in witty banter and give us something to do while maintaining a healthy, pale skin tone.

Summer brings about a kind of childhood nostalgia for freedom like no other season can. Let’s kick off our shoes, dawn some abnormally high SPF sunscreen to protect our pasty Northwest skin and act like kids again!

Finally, as the last days of rain drizzle away and we stride forward into endless days of sunshine it’s time to start enjoying the things we truly love. And when it comes to true love, not just a summer fling thing, my heart burns furiously for tasty treats!

Portland boasts a number of attractive qualities. Natives love to tout the fact that in the morning one can wake up in the midst of an urban haven of beer, music and culture, and by the end of the day rest their head in the easily accessible wilderness, or perhaps Pacific beach, just within reach of the city. As the summer sun has recently signaled, it is the season to act on such claims.
