It was an unusual sight in the Smith Memorial Student Union Ballroom Tuesday evening, as the university hosted its first sustainable fashion show, “Passion for Fashion: Ecouture,” a special show broken into four parts: Organic, Rejectamenta, Eco-Friendly/Sustainable and Animal Friendly.

The event brought out all types—slender fashion hipsters, pretty girls in expensive dresses, a smattering of local media and curious onlookers. The show was co-sponsored by the Portland State chapter of the American Marketing Association and Scion, the car company. A portion of the James F. Miller Grant helped fund the event.

It featured fashion designs from students from the Art Institute of Portland as well as several local designers. DJ OG ONE, Starchild and the Urban Dancers performed.
