This winter, four prep players declared their intentions to play for Viking softball.

Head coach Tobin Echo-Hawk announced the signing of outfielders Meghan Lyons and Rebecca Bliss, catcher Kayla Norrie and third baseman Crysta Conn with National Letters of Intent to play for Vikings softball.

Echo-Hawk said all four players are versatile and will make good additions to the Portland State squad.
“They will add power offensively,” she said.

Norrie, from San Dimas, Calif., made varsity team every year at San Dimas High School, where she was a two-time team captain and hit .319 at the plate.

Though she is expected to play catcher, she won Second-Team All-Valley Vista League Honors at first base. As a freshman at San Dimas, Norrie earned first team all-league honors.

“She brings great knowledge of the game and is constantly striving to get better,” Echo-Hawk said in a statement released by the athletics department.

Lyons played middle infield and outfield at Sunset High School in Beaverton, and was a team MVP in 2007 and 2009. She is also a three-time First-Team All-Metro League honoree.

Bliss, from Sunnyvale, Calif., is preceded by an impressive prep career. She was Wilcox High School’s 2009 all-league player, batted .476 and led the De Anza League in RBIs. Bliss was also named league Offensive Player of the Year and was a First-Team All-Mercury selection by the San Jose Mercury.

Conn attends Roseburg High School in Roseburg, where she has been an honorable mention all-state infielder for the past two seasons. Chosen as team MVP this spring, Conn has also made varsity every season and is a three-time all-league honoree.
