By the time any of you read this, it’ll all be over. Barring a situation like the one 12 years ago, the ballots have been counted. Half the country is dancing and spilling wine on the other half, who are probably curled up on the ground biting their knuckles and drawing blood, whispering, “Forgive them Lord, they know not what evil they voted for.”

The bourgeoisie seem to expect that straight after college they’ll be hired into well-paying, $60,000-or-more-a-year jobs, with full benefits and paid holidays. What we find, though, is a large number of kids placing their scholastic endeavors at the bottom of the list, doing nothing but keg stands and watching Jersey Shore for four years until they’re thrown into the real world completely unprepared.

As Portland State begins to enforce the Clean Air Corridor—a smoke-free area surrounding Neuberger Hall, Smith Memorial Student Union, Cramer Hall and Lincoln Hall—a simple question arises: Where can smokers go to enjoy their tobacco, and how will the ban be enforced?

The Real World leaves Portland
After disrupting the city with cameras and augmented reality television personalities, the 28th season of MTV’s The Real World seems to have finally left Portland. For myself and many other Portlanders like me, this also means a welcome relief from the types of people such a show appeals to.
