Students and community members gathered last night in Parkway North for Take Back the Night/Bike Back  the Night, an event sponsored by Portland State’s Women’s Resource Center and the Portland Women’s Crisis Line (PWCL) that aimed to raise awareness of sexual  violence.

After the evening began with performances by local acts, participants in the bike ride followed a route through the Park Blocks and returned for the keynote speech by

PSU English professor Loretta Stinson.

The event ended with a survivor speak out and a candlelight vigil.

“We have a couple of goals: to support survivors and to create awareness in the community,” Ally King, volunteer education coordinator at PWCL, said. This was her third year planning the event. ?
