April marks Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and this year’s national theme is “It’s time to talk about it!” Portland State’s Women’s Resource Center, along with the support of other Portland organizations, will host a variety of events throughout the month that focus on different aspects of sexual violence with a particular emphasis of giving a voice to sexual assault survivors.

Portland State childcare rates set to increase

Helen Gordon Child Development Center and Children’s Center to see rate increases in 2012–13 academic year

In order to fund increasing program and payroll costs, the Children’s Center and Helen Gordon Child Development Center have decided to raise hourly and monthly rates. The programs are subsidized by the university, but needs for additional funding have caused the rate increase, according to information provided by Ellen Justice, director of the CDC.

Portland State’s search committee for a new provost announced on March 28 that after much deliberation between four candidates it had selected Sona Karentz Andrews to replace outgoing Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Roy Koch. The selection of Koch’s replacement was a methodical endeavor consisting of a nationwide fielding of candidates and public forum interviews before the selection committee made its final decision.
